Nutrition Consultations |
Before a nutrition consultation, clients will be required to submit a forage analysis, which will be included in the service estimate. A Field & Fodder consultant will send you a postmarked envelope and completed form for the sample, as well as directions for submittal.
Our goal is to work with whichever feed company is best suited for you and your operation. Because we are not affiliated with a specific feed company, we are happy to make suggestions based on what is best for both you and your horse. Our goal is to work with you to meet all of your equine nutritional management needs. |
Remote consulting With the wide variety of technology available to us today, many consultations can be done remotely via email and phone conversations. This will vary on an individual basis, but for ration consultations, our consultants will be able to evaluate and meet all of your needs with on-line technology. Using web-based programs, as well as tools developed by our consultants, we can work with whatever company you choose to evaluate suitability of various feeds and feedstuffs for your horses.
However, for a more detailed analysis, or for larger farms that have many horses with different management needs, an on-site consultation might be ideal. In many cases, this usually will take 2-3 hours for 2-3 horses. Larger farms or those with horses that have a history of metabolic disorders will take longer, to ensure that everything in their ration meets their needs. |
on-site consultingFor clients who have large operations, this option may be more ideal. With on-site consulting, our consultants will schedule a visit to your farm or ranch to take hay and pasture samples, as well as evaluate all horses. Body condition scores and weight estimates are included in each visit. A more thorough experience is available through on-site consulting, as we are better able to evaluate all horses, as well as take all samples that we may need to evaluate feedstuff suitability.
Clients are expected to pay for travel costs, as well as time spent developing recommendations. On average, you can expect anywhere from 3-6 hours spent creating recommendations and investigating site suitability, but this will vary by farm. Please contact us for a free estimate! |
